    • Comments USA indices are divergent with Nasi being hit by weakness in AI/Semis but equal weighted RSP higher. Semi weakness driven by memory lower with announcement by Chinese memory company CXMT which despite USA sanctions has leapfrogged competitors. Korean KOSPI was -6% overnight with Samsung and Hynix being hit. AI names were weaker last week with the OpenAI revenue article and the China news adds fuel to the fire as memory has been a top performer with the narrative that this time is different, that memory is no longer a commodity and high demand and scarcity can lead to high margins for the rest of time.  USA govt has blocked previous attempts for AAPL to use CXMT memory and are likely to use all means to maintain high prices with intent to stop China.  CXMT achievement despite sanctions is a negative for western semi equipment companies which are clearly not essential in the memory space. USA financials are reporting and GS is the clear leader with equity trading and investment banking strong. JPM missed earnings with slowing capital markets.  WFC is lower with credit loss provisions increasing. Overall the financials results indicate the economy is still functioning ok and consumers are still healthy but potentially some cracks forming.  MAGS are led by AAPL and MSFT which can act as ballast to weakness in NVDA META. META had a strong day Mon but failed to stay above the 750 call wall.  Energy prices are lower despite no substantial change in the conflicts but is leading to a pullback in yields and a bounce in the yield sensitive sectors like staples, REITS, healthcare. UNH higher on earnings is lifting the DIA but JNJ lower is cancelling some of the move in the healthcare sector.  SPX 0DTE looks well supportive with range 7825-7725 and 7800 the swing level. If SPX is pinned and semis are weak, it can lead to outsized moves in other names.  Watch the semi names for BTD or continuation lower. Would expect some damage control to refute the China memory news as AI/Semi is too big to fail.

    ASML

ASML is a Dutch based semi equipment company whose lithography equipment is key to mfg of high end chips. ASML forecast will be important for the semi space and semi equipment companies like AMAT, KLAC and mfgs TSM and Samsung. Expected move +/- 96. ASML is a high priced stock with low option volume so although IV skew is conducive to calendar trades, one could look to SMH as a surrogate for trading the combination of ASML Wed and TSM Thurs. If long semis and plan to hold, put verticals or Fri flies are an idea.
